Hey there!
Let's celebrate the incredible role you play in shaping not just bilingual minds but resilient, emotionally intelligent learners. Join us on a quest to amplify the impact of SEL in dual language classrooms.

As we aim to create an environment where every language learner thrives emotionally and academically, it is important to note 5 core competencies of Social-Emotional Learning, as defined by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL): Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
Integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) educational practices helps create supportive and inclusive learning environments, enhances students' overall well-being, and prepares them for success in academics, language acquisition, and life beyond the classroom.
We are including some examples of what each of these competencies would look like in the classroom.
One of the most common concerns is how to fit SEL into an already packed day.
That's why I love the resources created by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and emotional Learning (CASEL). They share valuable and easy to implement resources.
You can visit their website at CASEL.org to take a deep dive into their amazing work, including their SEL 3 Signature Practices Playbook. They have broken up the practices into 3 categories:
Welcoming Inclusion Activities that promote inclusion and that set a positive tone for the day.
Engaging Strategies that promote a healthy balance between listening to the teacher and interacting with peers.
Optimistic Closures that promote a moment of reflection and an opportunity to get excited for the next school day.
From the playbook, I have pulled one of my favorite activities from each category and I am attaching them here for you.
If you'd like their downloadable playbook, visit their site here.
We hope you find these activities useful and that you share them with your peers!
Don't forget to follow us on all our socials!
With gratitude,
